BSI ISO 9001:2015 Inspection Passed.

BSI have been for their annual inspection again this month. We adhere to all the necessary requirements allowing us to maintain our ISO 9001:2015 certification.


New  Offices

December 2016


In recent years we have outgrown the offices for all departments - CAD, Production and Sales. We decided it was time to move everyone in to a purpose built brand new office. This will improve communication and working relationships within the company, a key ingredient of our success.

New Laser Installation

March 2016


The extension is now entering the final phases. The electrics and pipework are in place and our new Bystronic laser machine (6kw -  6500mm x 2500mm x 25mm) has arrived. We expect to be fully operational by the middle of April.

The groundwork is now complete and the steel frame work is arriving. We expect to be up and running by April.

Demolition of the old Site.

We are pleased to announce we have taken our first step towards the development of our new Stainless Steel Department. Demolition of the building that stood where we propose to erect the new site has now been completed.  Preparations and final design ideas are now underway to decide exactly what suits our needs best.



Accreditation to BSEN 1090 in accordance with CE marking achieved.

We are pleased to announce we have been accredited to BSEN 1090 allowing us to work in compliance with the regulations set out by the European Parliament (the Construction Products Regulation).  Our Factory Production Control certificate can be downloaded here for your benefit.

 


Investment in a brand new 2.5 Tonne Fork Truck.

After purchasing a 4.5 tonne CESAB Forklift Truck in 2012, we have enjoyed significant improvements to our handling times on the shop floor. As a result we decided to purchase an additional truck for our Stainless department, keeping loading times to both our machines and transport to a minimum.

Extension Plans Passed - for our State of the art Stainless Steel Department.

After submitting plans for a 16,000 square foot extension in September, we are delighted to announce all the plans have been passed. In recent years we have completely outgrown our current 19,500 square foot factory, squeezing everything we possibly can under one roof. The next few months will see building work begin on a state of the art purpose built Stainless steel department. This will allow our carbon steel branch to expand into the existing factory and give both departments the space they need to grow in the future.


Investment in a Brand new ‘Ultra Sharp’ HD Plasma Cutting Machine.

February 2014


With a strong desire to always remain at the forefront of technology, we decided to invest in a brand new ‘RUR3500P ultra sharp high definition plasma cutting machine. The new ‘FineLine’ HD Plasma cutting technology is combined with the ‘UltraSharp’ hole technology to help us achieve some of the best hole cutting quality in the industry.


Using UK based Kerf Developments Ltd as our supplier means we benefit from their extremely efficient breakdown service. By minimising any downtime that may occur we are able to maintain a quick and efficient turnaround in any situation.



Investment in two Brand new 7.5 tonne Wagons.

September 2013

Covering over 500 miles a week in each of our wagons, recent months have seen the effects of wear and tear. Any time our wagons are off the road increases the chance of late deliveries to our customers.  To avoid this we purchased two brand new DAF 7.5 tonne wagons, helping us maintain our quick turnaround without any unexpected problems.

CAD External Training on Sigma-nest.

June 2013

In June our CAD department headed to Coventry for an intense training course on sigma-nest (our chosen CAD-CAM package). Plate utilisation is absolutely crucial in keeping costs to a minimum; by training our staff to the highest standard we are able to achieve maximum yield from our plates and keep your costs to a minimum.


As well saving on the material itself, any experience in sigma-nest that is gained through training directly improves time taken to programme the jobs up in CAD reducing overall lead times on your job.



Investment in another 60” Lumsden Grinder.

May 2013


Our in-house Lumsden grinding service is often a great benefit to our customers, not only reducing their lead time but also the overall cost of the job. In May we added an additional 60” Lumsden grinder to our portfolio. We also used this as an opportunity to refurbish our 100” grinder, helping us to maintain the highest quality grinding service possible.



Investment in a Brand New ‘AcuCut’ Water Jet Machine.

March 2013


With our demand for Waterjet cut profiles growing every year, we decided to invest in the latest ‘AcuCut Waterjet machine’ by Techserv. Offering precision pure water and abrasive cutting of all materials up to 100mm thick. This investment has not only added to our portfolio, but with its increased traverse speed and dual head cutting ability it has also reduced lead times significantly.


Brand new CAD Department to focus on Stainless Steel.

August 2012


Since its establishment in 1986, Springfield Stainless has run in and alongside the CAD Department with PP Profiles. Since then Springfield has grown rapidly, as a result, in August we moved the entire Springfield CAD Department into separate offices. This allows them to focus entirely on our stainless service and also work closely with the stainless machinist’s, ensuring maximum plate utilization to keep customers costs to a minimum.

Investment in a Brand new 4.5 Tonne Fork Truck

Although in recent years we have generally seen a decline in the requirement for our thicker profiles. The demand is still ever present, in February we invested in a new CESAB Forklift Truck, capable of lifting an impressive 4.5 tonnes. This helps to reduce loading/un-loading  times for both suppliers and customers alike.

Investment in a Brand new Vauxhall Vivaro

February 2011


With our ever growing customer base, maintaining a quick turnaround is becoming increasingly essential. In February we added a Vauxhall Vivaro van to our fleet of vehicles. Cable of carrying up to a tonne in weight, it is perfect for getting smaller jobs to our customers on time every time.

We have recently invested in a ‘Trumpf Trulaser 3030’ laser cutting machine. This was in response to our customer ever growing requirement for rapid turnaround and high quality. The laser facility not only offers fast and cost effective cutting with incredible accuracy, but often removes the need for secondary machining giving customer’s additional lead time on their jobs.
