We provide a variety of non-destructive testing methods that will help ensure your material is fault-free and fit for purpose.
For example, hydro testing is used to monitor how your material responds to a given water pressure.
Dye penetrant testing will identify any surface faults in the material, and any issues highlighted can be ground out and re-welded.
In addition to our in-house techniques, we work with independent testers who observe various factors, from charpy impact to ultrasonic testing.
We pride ourselves on exceeding the standard welding service. With P.P. Profiles, our experts will work to achieve a comprehensive solution to your welding needs, including:
Our work and processes have been recognised under Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) guidelines. Certifications we have achieved include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and BS EN 1090.
Our stock features a wide range of metals and other materials for plate profiling.
We can work with materials including stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, copper, brass, bronze, nickel alloys, duplexes, super duplexes, rubber and plastic.
We also provide materials manufactured to fit the requirements of your project, including carbon steel, abrasion/wear resistant and weathering resistant materials, as well as heat treated, quenched and boiler grade steel.
Please consult our website/brochure for a full stock list, or ask our team if you require further clarification. Keep in mind that we can also cut free issue material where required.
Our CAD technicians can lend their expertise and experience to a full range of 3D development tasks, including complex pieces.
We employ various software programs – including SigmaNEST®, Autodesk® Inventor® Professional, Bysoft 7® and SolidWorks® – to achieve the design and consistency you require, providing a quick and cost effective solution.
We can work with a range of file and format types, including DWG, DXF, STEP, DWR, DWF and PDF. This is by no means an exhaustive list, so please ask us if you are unsure.
Etching is certainly available as part of our laser cutting service, and can significantly reduce fabrication time.
It is useful for a variety of purposes, including identification, traceability, stitch cutting, assembly, centre marking, hole positioning and bend lines. If you feel laser etching is something that could benefit your project, please speak to one of our experts.
Our heat treatment offers stress relieving and normalising functions, which help us to prevent instances of metal cracking or splitting.
Our ovens are able to treat materials up to a capacity of 3800 mm x 3500 mm.
Our 2540 mm Lumsden grinding table can finish profiles ranging from 6 mm to 200 mm in thickness. Three grinders are used to achieve consistency even across larger profiles, with a flatness tolerance of 0.5 mm.
We also have the capacity to grind magnetic stainless steel, if needed.
The bevel angles can vary from 22.5° to 55°, with a plate thickness of between 6 mm and 50 mm. The maximum bevel depth will vary depending on whether you are using carbon or stainless steel.
We can employ one of three different types of press braking machinery, achieving a capacity of up to 400 tonnes at 4000 mm x 12 mm with our Bystronic machine.
We have CNC-operated press brake machines, enabling us to handle complex drawings and run tests before carrying out the final pressing.
This will depend on the specific plate roller used. If needed, we can carry out edge prepping on your material so it is ready for welding once rolled.
We have four different roll sizes to choose from, each with varied capacities ranging from a thickness of 1200 mm x 3 mm to 3000 mm x 20 mm. Our experts will be able to advise you as to which would be the most efficient and cost effective for your project.
We can cut material such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminium and duplexes up to a capacity of 6000 mm x 2500 mm x up to 150 mm.
Saw cutting is ideal for projects where non-standard bar sizes are required, and this method is perfect for giving your material a clean, straight edge.
Our twin-headed water jet cutting method provides a cost effective process across a range of materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium, titanium, copper, brass, bronze, nickel alloys, rubber and plastics. In practice, we can use water to cut any kind of free issue material.
The capacity for our high pressure water jet cutting services is up to 6000 mm x 4000 mm x up to 200 mm, with up to 45° bevel cutting.
We have over 40 years of flame cutting experience, so you can be sure of a reliable, high quality service.
Our four headed ‘Kerf Oxy-Fuel’ flame cutting machines allow us to quickly complete jobs up to a capacity of 22000 mm x 3500 mm x 300 mm. Your material can be custom-finished to your specifications using our Lumsden grinding and heat treatment services.
Our plasma cutting services allow us to cut different type of materials up to 12000 mm x 3500 mm x up to 40 mm, using HD Kerf UltraSharp machine. We can also cut up to 150 mm thick using our submerged plasma cutting machine. We can also prep the material for welding and rolling if required. In all cases, our plasma cutting services can complete thicker items quickly and cost effectively.
We are able to cut materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium, nickel alloys, yellow metals (using our fibre laser) and duplexes up to a capacity of 6500 mm x 2500 mm x up to 30 mm. Our laser cutting will achieve a high quality finish with clean edging and minimal taper, prepared promptly to fit your required timeframe. The level of precision provided by laser cutting means we are also able to produce smaller, more intricate shapes where needed.
